Friendship
What is it about a few hours spent with a close friend that seem to re-charge you, if only temporarily, even in your lowest low. This detail along with a few others has lead me to believe that the main purpose of relationships is, despite the claims that it is merely for sexual reproduction, intimacy. As humans we desire intimacy with anyone, even a person we can’t see or tangibly define (God). I think we are so desperate to find another person to share our experience with in order to feel that there is less of a skin, bone and communicative barrier that isolates us from everything. If you think of living in terms of our bodies, we are completely alone; a person is just one island in an ocean of islands.
