Halloween Late Night

This afternoon I was driving on a road directly behind my house. During the months of fall this road has a habit of displaying the red and yellow trees in such a sharp contrast with the deep blue sky, in perfect alignment with the afternoon sun, to make it hard for me to continue driving towards my house. I was struck by appreciation, but I was also consumed with frustration. In the moment that I saw the sun coming through the dying leaves against a sky that was very much alive I felt such frustration that I could only experience this with my sight. I was frustrated at the fact that I could only feel that perfection for the brief moment that I drove past it. I frustrated that I had to drive past it, that I had to leave it.
